PVDRS STUDIO
AHMEDABAD, 2021
In the middle of 2021, PVDRS, the Ahmedabad-based architecture, and interior design studio, had the opportunity to relocate its physical space, which resulted in an entirely new working environment.
The new space for this studio, led by Keyur Vadodaria and Megha Patel-Vadodaria, is reflective of the team’s ethos of delivering designs that delve into bespoke detailing and customised solutions for their clients. “The design intent was to create a working environment that has a broad luminosity, has subtlety in its expression, is visually and physically comfortable and one that encourages the free flow of ideas and deliberative discourse-oriented approaches towards design”.
The strategic positioning of the studio in the northwest corner of the 6th floor in a corporate building not only allows the space to receive north light throughout the working hours in abundance but also offers impressive views of the surroundings. “At the outset of the design process, it was considered imperative to create a working environment that is in tandem with nature outside, for one to be able to perceive time through changing natural light conditions during the workday. This glass facade also over time has become the backdrop to tea time conversations, with the team members perched on the seating ledge adjacent to it”.
The studio has a unique spatial organisation, one that engulfs the visitor into the workspace to give them a first-hand experience of the work environment. A compact vestibule serves as the entrance into the office, doing away with a traditional reception space. The vestibule leads directly onto the studio, and into a central circulation axis, to the left of which is the conference room and the partners’ cabin, and to the right of which is the open-plan workspace.
